After 3 years of talking about it, I’ve actually been out photographing with another local photographer, in the shape of Paul Forgham (www.paulforgham.co.uk). Paul (or Forge, or 4G among many other names I’m sure he has been called before!) is a friend of my uncles from years gone by who also happens to be a photographer and a good friend of mine! So, after first meeting in the Plough Inn, in Taunton, around 3 years ago and suggesting we should go out for a shoot together, we finally did it, not once, but 3 times within the space of 2 weeks!
The first trip out was an ill fated trip down to Kilve. Neither of us managed to capture anything of interest, I got soaked by an incoming wave, but we did manage to find an area of beach where, when the conditions were favourable, would look good. The next evening we headed out to the wreck of the SS Nornen at Berrow. We both managed to rattle off a few shots here but again, the conditions were not perfect and the mud that we were standing in kept trying to swallow our tripods! Third time lucky. We headed back down to Kilve and went straight to the area of beach where we had found before. The tide wasnt in the exact spot we had hoped for and there werent as many clouds in the sky as I had wished but I managed to get a couple of shots that I’m happy with. Also managing to capture a 2 second exposure of Forge taking a photo!
So Im looking forward to the next time out, and the next time we get to have a good old moan about things and talk about how good Ocean Colour Scene are and how cool Paul Weller is…still!
